May Kaidee's Vegetarian Restaurant, Bangkok

This little out-of-the-way place in Bangkok was SO good. We went there both times we visited Thailand. I can't remember what I got, but everything was good.

Greens Restaurant, San Francisco

Alice Waters started Greens. Amazing view of the bay. Great, fresh food. I can't remember what I had, but it was yummy.

Chez Panisse, Oakland

Favorite Restaurants Around the World

Lo Sole Mio, Omaha

Lo Sole Mio is my favorite Italian restaurant in Omaha. The portions are ridiculously huge, though, so I always end up leaving feeling like an incredible lard ass.

Jaipur, Omaha

As much as I love The Indian Oven and all the folks who work there, I love Jaipur, too, and seem to pick it more often (maybe just so we can be anonymous). Jaipur has a better website, too.

La Casa, Omaha

La Casa is the best pizza in Omaha.

Mark's Bistro, Omaha

Sometimes Mark's is great (New Year's Eve, for example), and other times it's so-so. At times, their portions can be disappointing, especially for how much you pay (not to sound gauche, but really).
Good atmosphere. Good wine selection. I'd like to try the patio seating in the summer sometime.

Dario's Brasserie, Omaha

Great beer, burgers, and frittes at Dario's, but everything else can go, if you ask me.

Queen of Sheba, Denver

Wonderful little hole in the wall Ethiopian restaurant in Denver. Food was pretty heavy, though, so be ready for a heavy, filling meal.

Watercourse, Denver

Watercourse was our favorite stop in Denver last spring (though the Ethiopian place was an awesome little hole in the wall, too . . . I can't remember the name, though).
Really fresh, light breakfasts and fantastic vegetarian options. I can't remember what I got, but it was good.

Taxi's, Omaha

We tried Taxi's for breakfast with Mom and Dad a few weeks ago. It was recommended by Doug Lash. It was very good. It doesn't have a good website and it's kind of hidden (which I like).
I got a salad, which was nice and light, but made me wish I had ordered a breakfast dish. I tried Mom's and Mike's and both were really good.

Blue Bird Bistro, Kansas City

Blue Bird Bistro in Kansas City, in the Westport area, was one of my favorite restaurants. The ambiance is unbeatable . . . like something out of an old movie . . . especially in the summer time with the fan built in to one of the outside walls and the door at the corner of the dining room. This is a great place for a wonderful, healthy meal.
I had the Blue Bird Salad with Chicken added to it and it was phenomenal. It tasted fresh and delicious. I went there last summer when I was in town for a work conference and can't wait to go back. This restaurant is totally unique. Great service, too (though I wouldn't rate any restaurant well without great service).
I can't remember what wine I had . . . I know it was red, and I want to say it was the Altos de la Hoya, but I'm not sure . . . anyways, it was fantastic.
I tried a cookie for dessert, but it wasn't that good. Dry and crumbly. I should have gone with one of their other desserts.

The Twisted Cork Bistro, Omaha

Mike and I went to The Twisted Cork Bistro for dinner tonight and it was outstanding.

Here's what I tried:

Wine: NxNW (North by Northwest), a Washington Cabernet Sauvignon, I believe
Appetizer: Lavosh: pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, two cheese (havarti and mozzarella?), fennel, goat cheese, red pepper on the side . . . can't remember what else, but it was tremendous
Dinner: Cheeseburger: blend of local beef/pork with a great seasoning. It came with chips and an apple coleslaw that had blue cheese on it
Dessert: Cheesecake . . . puts the factory to shame
Coffee: the owners are from Seattle

I wanted to try the Tomato White Cheddar soup, but no room.

They're having a Ladies Night April 29th that I want to go to.
